Prepare.
Take time to be fully present. Sit comfortably, close your
eyes and center yourself with breathing.

1. Hear the word – that is addressed to you.
Read the passage slowly – twice though. Listen for a word or
a phrase that stands out to you. Repeat it to yourself over and over during a
time of silence. (approx 1 minute).
Group: When the leader gives a signal, say the word or
phrase aloud without elaboration.
Self: perhaps write the word or phrase on a piece of paper.
2. Ask “How is my life touched?” – by this word.
Read the passage a second time. Listen for insight in to how
your life is touched today by this passage. Reflect in terms of “I feel”, “I
think”, “I see”, “I remember” during two minutes of silence.
Group: When leader give signal, share one or two sentences.
(or you may pass)
Self: write down your thoughts without too much elaboration
at this point.
3. Ask “Is there an invitation here?” (For you)
Read the passage a third time. Listen for an invitation
relevant for the next few days. Listen of a way to take this words into your
day ahead. Ponder this invitation during several minutes of silence.
Group: When leader gives sign, share this invitation. (or
you may pass).
Self: write down the invitation.
4. Pray, for one another to be enabled to respond.
Pray, out loud or silently, for God to support the person on
your right respond to the invitation received.
Self: Take time to pray out loud or in silence for God to
Support you in responding to the invitation given during this mediation.
Group: End session with time of conversation. An opportunity to
share how they feel as compared to how they felt on arrival, or comment on or
ask questions about the passage.
